27-Year-Old Man Died on Spot After Walls of Mine Collapse in Siaya County

 

A 27-year-old miner has died on spot after a gold mining shaft collapsed at Ochere village in Alego/Usinga in Siaya County.

Confirming the incident, the Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said that the deceased by the name Musa Owino Okelo was covered by the soil while prospecting for gold.

“The incident, which happened on Saturday evening, was reported by the area chief Mr. Ogutu Ojala,” Kimaiyo said.

The police rushed to the scene as soon as an alert was made as they launched the investigation of the act.

 

The body of the deceased was taken to Siaya County Referral mortuary pending autospsy.

 

Resident of the area have been asked to be cautious as they prospect for gold following the amid ongoing rains.
