The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially announced the 2025 nationwide recruitment exercise for General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialist Officers, Tradesmen/Women, General Duty Recruits, and Defence Forces Constables. The recruitment will take place in October 2025 across all counties in Kenya.
Recruitment Is Free and Fair
KDF has warned the public that the recruitment exercise is absolutely free of charge. Candidates are urged not to bribe or engage agents, as such actions are criminal offenses. Any person found guilty of corruption during the recruitment will face arrest and prosecution. General Requirements
All applicants must:
- Be Kenyan citizens with valid National ID cards.
- Be between 18 and 26 years for GSO Cadets and General Duty Recruits.
- Be below 30 years for Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/Women.
- Be below 39 years for Chaplains and Imams.
- Have no criminal record.
- Meet minimum height and weight standards (Men: 1.60m, 54.55kg; Women: 1.52m, 50kg).
- Maintain a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 30.
- Be medically fit and women must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or training.
Online Application and Deadline
Applicants for GSO Cadets, Specialist Officers, and Tradesmen/Women must apply online through https://recruit.mod.go.ke before 12th October 2025.
Shortlisted candidates will be announced in local newspapers between 21st and 24th October 2025.
Physical Recruitment
Recruitment of General Duty Recruits and Defence Forces Constables will be conducted physically at designated county recruitment centers from 13th to 25th October 2025.
