The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will promote 21,000 teachers at a cost of Sh1 billion in the 2025/2026 financial year, boosting morale and addressing staffing gaps.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced plans to promote 21,000 teachers across all cadres at a cost of Sh1 billion during the 2025/2026 financial year.
The promotions are part of a larger strategy to boost teacher motivation, address staff shortages, and reward long-serving educators for their commitment. Acting CEO Everleen Mitei said the initiative aligns with the government’s agenda to strengthen human resources in public education.
She added that the interview process, initially scheduled for October 17, 2025, has been rescheduled to October 21–23, 2025, following the declaration of a national holiday in honour of Raila Odinga.
Education stakeholders have lauded the commission’s move, terming it a timely step in resolving stagnation cases affecting thousands of teachers nationwide.
This promotion drive comes amid concerns over the high number of unemployed teachers and the growing demand for qualified staff under the Competency-Based Curriculum.
