Details Emerge How President William Ruto’s Camp Spearheaded Kawira Mwangaza’s Impeachment

New allegations have surfaced regarding the impeachment of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, suggesting that influential United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party officials may have played a role in orchestrating her removal.

These claims emerged during the Senate proceedings, where Mwangaza was facing her third impeachment attempt.

Advocate Elias Mutuma, representing Governor Mwangaza, expressed concerns about the involvement of political leadership in Meru in the impeachment process. This raises questions about the extent of political influence and motivations behind the impeachment.

In the defense of Governor Kawira Mwangaza, it was argued that her impeachment was driven by political rivalries within Meru County. Her team suggested that her removal was not solely based on the charges against her but was influenced by internal political dynamics aiming to undermine her leadership.

Evans Mawira, the MCA for Mitunguu Ward, revealed that officials from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) were actively involved in the impeachment process against Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

This revelation came in response to Mutuma’s inquiry about potential political influence in the impeachment proceedings. Mawira’s confirmation added weight to Mwangaza’s claims of being targeted by political forces within the county.

Evans Mawira described how the UDA party was instrumental in mobilizing MCAs to support the impeachment of Governor Mwangaza. He detailed a meeting with UDA officials, including the party coordinator and key figures like Hon. Rindikiri and Hon. Kathuri Murungi, where they decided to withdraw support for Mwangaza.

Mawira’s account suggests that the UDA’s influence played a significant role in the impeachment process, reinforcing the governor’s claims of political targeting.

The involvement of the ruling UDA party in the impeachment of Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who was elected on an independent ticket, indeed adds significant complexity to the situation in Meru County.

Mwangaza’s denial of any wrongdoing and her assertion that the impeachment is politically motivated underscore the contentious nature of her removal. As of August 20, the Senate was set to conclude hearings and review evidence before making a final decision on her impeachment.
