KUCCPS To Revise University Entry Grade in 2023 KCSE as Machogu Direct

 

The education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has directed Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Services(KUCCPS) to revise by aligning the cluster and University entry points with the 2023 KCSE new grading system.

 

Speaking while releasing the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret, the education CS said that there’s an improvement on students’ performance who attained minimum University entry grade [C+(plus) ] and above compared to the previous year (2022).

 

Candidates who attained the minimum University entity grade C+(plus) and above in 2023 KCSE were 201,133 that represent 22.27% compared to 2022 where 173,345 students attained C+(plus) and above, representing 19.62%

Speaking during the release of 2023 KCSE Results at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret, CS Machogu directed KUCCPS to revise the university entry grade following the new system of grading.

The ministry of education made a major reforms in grading system where two compulsory subjects mathematics and any one of the performed language ( English, Kiswahili or sign language) are used to compute the results of the candidate.

In addition to compulsory subjects,Knec considered any other five performed subjects to determine the overall grade of the candidate. The new grading system that was set last year and took effect with 2023 KCSE.

 

The aim of the new grading system is to increase the number of students joining Universities, colleges and TIVET institutions.
