Mama Ngina University to Be Degraded to TVET Institute; Plans Faces Objection


 

Plan to have Mama Ngina University in Mutomo Village, Kiambu County reduced to Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Institute has faced a bold antagonism from locals.

 

The Local residents have accused the area Member of Parliament Gabriel Kagombe for Allegedly attempting to interfere with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s project in the area.

 

 

In a public participation in Mutomo Village in Sunday, the Local said that the university is of great importance in the area as it as well helped the locals to exploit their potential by venturing in small business.

 

 

Residents condemned the malicious plan by some leaders to have Mama Ngina University downgraded, the project that was established by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

 

 

“This University was established during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure in office and he meant well for us. But some people are busy fighting and overturning his decisions, projects and policies. We will not allow this ill-advised move to advance,” said resident Long John

 

 

Residents argued that the university has triggered development in the region for economy to boom.

 

 

The existence of the university has opened up small businesses for residents to serve the students and university staff as indicated by Residents.

 

 

Residents blamed some individuals with ill plans to deny them the noble opportunity by downgrading the university

 

 

“We were hopeful that the university would trigger massive developments in this region and that our economy would boom. It has created opportunities to open up small businesses to serve the students and university staff but some individuals somewhere are busy crafting how they will deny us this noble opportunity,” he said.
