The Ministry of Education (MOE) has issued the new guideline in teaching Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary classes, issuing the time classes should commence and end.
This come following the ban of morning and evening classes by the ministry of education, sending stern warning against schools ferrying students late at home.
Addressing, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said that students are compelled to wake up as early as 4.00am in the morning and sleeping as late as 10.00 pm at night.
Machogu expressed the concern that morning and evening studies overburden students thus not getting time to rest.
The CS threatened to take a stern action against schools ferrying students home as late as 10.00 pm and collecting them as early as 4.00 am in the morning.
However, School Heads have expressed the concern of shortage of Teachers, asking the ministry of education to hire more teachers in a bid of addressing the mismatch of teacher-student ratio.
According to Kenya Primary Teachers Association ( KEPSHA ), the current teacher-student ratio is 1:50 in public primary school thus making a bold challenge to complete the syllabus within the stipulated time.
Machogu warned School Headteachers Against sending home Junior Secondary School Leaners over school fees arrears and school uniform as per the directive of Ministry of Education.
CS Machogu asked school heads to give parents time to work on preparedness in preparing Junior Secondary School Leaners.
