TSC Increases Retirement Age For Teachers.

Teachers Service Commission has extended the retirement age for teachers following the shortage of teachers in North Eastern region.

The commission has admitted that schools are experiencing shortage of teachers, as it look forward to deploy more teachers to bridge the gap of shortage of teachers across the country.

However, in North Eastern, Teachers who have reached the retirement age have been asked to be employed by Teachers Service Commission in contract basis.

Lack of teachers in North Eastern has raised a bold concern as many teachers in the area have left the payroll.

The recent review of delocalization policy that sent many teachers to their home area has caused shortage of teachers in North East region.

The shortage of teachers is expected in Garissa, Wajir and Mandera as Teachers Service Commission seek to employ retired teachers to seal the gap of shortage of teachers in the region.

Most of the teachers who were previously teaching in North East region transferred to their home area in the new delocalization program.

Teachers Service Commission will be compelled to extend the retirement period for teachers in North Eastern region due to shortage of teachers in a bid of boosting education process in the region.
