TSC Issue New Criteria of Deploying Primary Teachers to Teach Junior Secondary School, KNUT Objects

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued new criteria of Deploying Primary Teachers to Teach Junior Secondary School.

Despite of Deploying 31,550 Junior Secondary Teachers, Teachers Service Commission admitted the shortage of teachers in Junior Secondary School to adequately attend Grade 7 Leaners.

However, Teachers Service Commission seems to use a different criteria in deployment of primary teachers to junior Secondary on the basis of Teacher’ grade.

Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT has objected the criteria, demanding Teachers Service Commission to use Teacher qualification rather than grades of Teachers.

KNUT argued that P1 Teachers with Qualification to teach Secondary option should teach Junior Secondary.

However, Teachers Service Commission asked P1 Teachers with Diploma or degree in education to send their documents for verification via TSC online portal.

According to Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), teachers with C+ qualify to teach Secondary option, seeking the criteria to be reverted
