TSC Qualifications to Teach Grade 7 in Junior Secondary School


 

Follow the new reform in education system in the country, junior Secondary School was introduced that consists of grade 7, garde 8 and Grade 9 .

 

Teachers Service Commission has employed 30,550 teachers to teach junior Secondary Which is domiciled in primary school.

 

 

Leaners who sat for Grade 6 Examination will transit to junior Secondary as per the directive of the ministry of education.

 

 

 

According to Teachers Service Commission, Teachers with the qualifications to teach Secondary School will teach junior Secondary School. Only teachers with Diploma and Degree in education will qualify to teach Grade 7 in junior Secondary.

 

 

Grade 7 is the first class to be hosted in Junior Secondary School where each classroom will at least have one teacher. Still more teachers will be employed in the subsequent years to teach grade 8 and Grade 9.

 

 

 

However, Teachers Service Commission directed P1 Teachers with Diploma and Degree qualifications to submit their details to Teachers Service Commission through the school Headteacher.

 

 

 

Primary Teachers with Diploma and Degree in education will shift to teach junior Secondary School as per the directive of Teachers Service Commission.

 

 

 

However, Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT said that unless P1 Teachers with Diploma and Degree are promoted by Teachers Service Commission, they won’t teach Junior. Secondary School.

 

 

 

TSC Boss Nancy Macharia said that the commission is setting measures in place to ensure that Junior Secondary gets enough Teachers.
