TSC Recruitment of 20,000 JSS Intern Teachers in 2024

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to employ 20,000 intern teachers to address substantial staffing shortage in Junior Secondary.

Acknowledging the deficit, Teachers Service Commission’s boss Nancy Macharia saud that the government has set funds to employ additional teachers to addresses the defict of staffing in Junior Secondary.

Junior Secondary School require 99,045 where it currently stand at 56, 928 where more educators are required to attend grade 7, 8 and 9. This year, Junior Secondary School will receive grade 9 leaners those transiting from grade 8. It’s an indication that Junior Secondary will be fully occupied in grade 7, 8 and 9.

Dr Nancy Macharia said that the government is committed in releasing funds to school to ensure the effectiveness of the education process, including employing new educators to address the understaffing of educators.

However, the shortage of 42,117 educators looms in Junior Secondary School where primary exhibit a surplus of 18,194 prompting a redistribution strategy to undressing understaffing challenge and achieve the recommended teachers leaners ratio of 1:40

However, Junior Secondary School Teachers have developed a major concern of challenges they are undergoing and government’s hestation to address the challenges that includes poor working condition, concern about poor working terms and failure to be confirmed to permanent and pensionable terms.
