TSC To Fire All Striking JSS Intern Teachers and Re-Advertise New Vacancies – Warns TSC CEO

Teachers Service Commission has warned to sack all the striking Junior Secondary school instructors who intend to strike in January.

The government recruited 45,000 intern teachers in both primary and junior secondary school in a bid of stimulating the new curriculum of competence based curriculum (CBC). However, Intern Junior Secondary Instructors are threatening to strike if they are not confirmed to permanent and Pensionable terms.

 

 

Teachers service commission said that they should extend a contract of one year term of service before confirmed to permanent and Pensionable. Teachers Service Commission affirmed that it does not have funds to hire Junior Secondary school instructors on permanent and Pensionable terms, asking intern teachers to extend their term of service for one year before confirmed to permanent and Pensionable terms.

 

Speaking, Teachers Service Commission boss said that those intern Teachers who have threatened to go on strike in January will be interdicted and vacancies re-advertised, citing that there are many unemployed graduates. The head of state President William Ruto developed the concern about Junior Secondary school instructors, said that they will offer service for two years before confirmed to permanent and Pensionable terms as the government set to recruit more instructors. President William Ruto said that the intern JSS teachers will begin their work in January as they have been guaranteed to work for two years before being hired on permanent and Pensionable conditions.

It is now a government practice for the intern teachers to work for two years before they are employed on permanent and pensionable terms,” Ruto said during a speech at the State House.

“In January, the JSS intern teachers will begin work. We had guaranteed that they would have to undergo a two-year internship before being hired on permanent and pensionable conditions.”

JSS Intern Teachers have expressed their complaints, expressing how they are undermined and treated like University or college students and not like other TSC teachers.
