Teachers Service Commission is set to commence training teachers who will be teaching Grade 7 in January 2023.
This is after the announcement that Leaners of grade 6 who completed Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) to be domiciled in the existing primary schools.
Teachers Service Commission has already began to audit primary teachers with degree, diploma and TPD to teach junior Secondary Schools.
However, Teachers Service Commission will start training teachers who will be teaching junior Secondary School in January 2023. The commission targets to train 116,024 teachers in preparation to roll out grade 7 classes.
Already 60,000 secondary school teachers were trained on competency based Curriculum where the training of teachers on Junior Secondary School happened in May this year.
However, state House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said that Teachers Service Commission, TSC will work with the ministry of education and Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, KICD to ensure how training of teachers on grade 7 will be done.
The ministry of education indicated that Kenya Primary School Education Assessment KPSEA will not rule out the progression of the Leaner to junior Secondary but to Access the Leaners progress
