Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has confirmed that the results will be released in January 2026. This announcement marks a shift from the traditional December release, aligning with the academic calendar normalization.
As Education Report Reports, Over 950,000 candidates sat for the national exam in October and November 2025. The KCSE remains Kenya’s most critical academic milestone, determining university and college admissions.
Why the Delay to January 2026?
According to CS Ogamba, the new release schedule ensures comprehensive marking, verification, and moderation, allowing for improved result accuracy. The Ministry aims to align future releases with the restored January–December academic year.
“We are committed to maintaining credibility and fairness in the KCSE process,” said Ogamba.
How to Check KCSE 2025 Results
After the official release in January 2026, candidates can check their KCSE results through:
- KNEC Portal: Visit www.knec.ac.ke
- SMS: Send the candidate’s index number to the KNEC code provided before release
- School Downloads: Institutions will receive result slips from KNEC directly
University and College Placement
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will begin the 2026 placement process soon after the release. Candidates are encouraged to verify their results early to apply for courses on time.
