Good News! Government Releases KSh 2.4 Billion to Support Elderly and PWDs Under Inua Jamii Programme

Thousands of elderly citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) across Kenya have a reason to smile after the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection released KSh 2.4 billion under the Inua Jamii Programme for the October 2025 payment cycle.

According to an official statement from the Ministry, the payment disbursement began today, November 4, 2025, through the eCitizen digital payment solution, marking another milestone in the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups across the country.

Under the initiative, each beneficiary will receive KSh 2,000 per month, a move aimed at cushioning them against the rising cost of living and promoting social inclusion among Kenya’s most vulnerable citizens.

What the Inua Jamii Programme Means for Kenyans

The Inua Jamii Programme is one of the flagship social protection programs by the Kenyan government designed to provide regular cash transfers to vulnerable populations, including the elderly, orphans, vulnerable children, and persons with severe disabilities (PWDs).

By releasing KSh 2.4 billion this cycle, the government seeks to ensure that beneficiaries receive timely financial support to meet their basic needs such as food, healthcare, and shelter. This initiative also plays a vital role in promoting dignity, reducing poverty, and improving the quality of life among marginalized groups.

How the Payment Will Be Made

For the October 2025 cycle, the Ministry confirmed that the payments will be processed through the eCitizen platform — Kenya’s official government service portal.
This shift to a digital payment system ensures transparency, security, and accountability, allowing beneficiaries to access their funds conveniently without middlemen or delays.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their eCitizen accounts or visit designated financial agents to confirm their payment status. The Ministry has also advised county and sub-county officers to assist beneficiaries who may face challenges in accessing their funds, particularly in remote areas.

Empowering the Elderly and PWD Community

The release of the funds underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the elderly and the PWD community through sustainable social welfare programs.
By leveraging technology through eCitizen, the Ministry aims to eliminate fraud and ensure that every shilling reaches its rightful recipient.

Speaking about the disbursement, Labour and Social Protection officials reiterated that social protection remains at the heart of Kenya’s development agenda. They emphasized that no elderly person or PWD should be left behind in the journey toward economic empowerment and inclusion.

Public Urged to Spread the Word

Members of the public, community leaders, and local administrators are urged to alert beneficiaries that the payments have already commenced.
Elderly citizens and PWDs enrolled in the Inua Jamii Programme should visit their respective eCitizen accounts or authorized payment agents to access their KSh 2,000 entitlement.

This timely release of funds brings much-needed relief to thousands of families relying on the Inua Jamii Programme for their daily sustenance and well-being.
