Education CS Confirms Exact 2024 KCSE Results Release Date – Here’s What You Need to Know

In a highly anticipated announcement, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has revealed that the results for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will be released in the second week of January 2025.

Speaking during the Omogusii Cultural Festival held at Kenyoro School Grounds in North Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira County, the CS assured candidates and parents that the government remains committed to maintaining the tradition of releasing KCSE results in January.

“The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks,” Ogamba stated. “Traditionally, the KCSE exams were announced in January, and we are keeping to that tradition.”

Ogamba also addressed confusion about the timing of exam result announcements. He clarified that past December releases were typically for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, which were not conducted this year due to the rollout of the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

“The exams previously released in December were the KCPE results, but this year, we did not have that examination. This may have led to some confusion,” he explained.

The 2024 KCSE exams, which commenced on October 22 and concluded in November, saw a record-high 965,501 candidates sit for the exams across 10,755 centers. This represents a significant increase from the 903,138 candidates registered in 2023. The exams were completed without major disruptions, with tight security and supervision ensuring integrity throughout the process.

Marking of the exams, carried out in 35 designated centers nationwide, wrapped up on December 13, 2024. The Education Ministry commended the efforts of thousands of examiners who worked tirelessly to ensure the process was completed within the set timeline.

The upcoming release of KCSE results marks a pivotal moment for the candidates who have been eagerly awaiting their scores. These results will determine their next steps in academia or career paths, making this announcement highly significant for Kenyan families.

As students and parents prepare for the results, education stakeholders are optimistic that the government’s reforms, including changes in the curriculum, will pave the way for a brighter future in the country’s education system.
