Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has died after suffering a cardiac arrest during a morning walk in Kerala, India. He was rushed to hospital and declared dead at 9:52 am local time. 


Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga collapsed during a morning walk on Wednesday, October 15, while undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Kerala. He was rushed to a hospital near Koothattukulam in the Ernakulam district and was declared dead at approximately 9:52 am IST.

Odinga had traveled to Kerala for scheduled Ayurvedic treatment, accompanied by his daughter and close relatives.

During his morning walk within the premises of the Ayurvedic facility, he suddenly collapsed.

He was immediately transported to a nearby private hospital at Koothattukulam, where medical staff attempted resuscitation, but he could not be revived.

The hospital spokesperson confirmed he was pronounced dead at around 9:52 am.

His body is currently preserved at the hospital pending further procedures and coordination with Kenyan diplomatic authorities.
