Steps on Registration for 2025 KCSE July Series: Key Details for Candidates


The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) July series.

Registration officially began on Monday, 27th January 2025, and will close on Friday, 21st February 2025. Candidates are urged to complete the process within this period, as late registrations will not be accepted.

Where and How to Register

The registration process will be coordinated through the County Directors of Education (CDEs) offices at county headquarters. Candidates can register on the official KNEC registration portal provided by the council. For those based in Nairobi, registration will be conducted at KNEC headquarters, located at New Mitihani House, South C.

Eligibility for the July Series

The July KCSE series is specifically designed for:

Repeat Candidates:

1. Full Repeaters: Those registering for seven or more subjects.ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Partial Repeaters: Those registering for fewer than seven subjects to improve specific grades.

2. Candidates Unable to Sit Previous Exams: Those who registered for the KCSE examination in the past but could not sit the exams due to unforeseen circumstances.

2. Adult Learners: Individuals not enrolled in regular schools but who have proof of having completed primary education qualifications.

KNEC has emphasized that all repeaters and private candidates are required to register for the July series only and are not eligible for the November KCSE examination series.

Registration Fees and Payment

The mandatory registration fee for all candidates is KSH 7,200. This amount must be paid at the time of registration via the E-Citizen platform. Payment details will be provided on the KNEC registration portal to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
