TSC Indentifys Teachers Who Will Be Favoured in Recent Promotion With allocated Marks

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has unveiled a new promotion interview scoresheet for the 2025/26 cycle, heavily favoring older teachers and those who have served longer in the same job group. With 24,000 promotional slots available, teachers aged 57 and above stand the greatest chance of moving up the ranks.

According to the new framework, experience carries the most weight, with 50 marks allocated for length of service in the current job group. Teachers who have stayed in one grade for at least seven years will automatically secure top scores in this category, while those with shorter stays will earn fewer marks.

Age is also a key consideration. Teachers aged 57 and above will earn 30 points, followed by those aged 52–56 with 25 points, and 47–51 with 20 points. Younger teachers, especially those 41 and below, will receive only 10 marks.

Academic qualifications will contribute modestly, with doctorate holders receiving five marks, master’s degree holders four, and bachelor’s degree holders three. Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) ratings remain important, carrying 10 marks, with full scores awarded to those averaging 81 percent or higher over the past three years.

Educators who have taken on national responsibilities such as KNEC examiners, KICD panellists, CBC trainers, and facilitators in specialized institutions like KEMI and CEMASTEA will earn up to five additional marks.

The scoring guide applies across all leadership levels, from classroom teachers aspiring for promotion to administrative posts such as Deputy Principal, Headteacher, Senior Principal, and Chief Principal.

Applicants are required to present key documents, including academic certificates, appointment letters, payslips, and appraisal reports, with additional clearance from HELB, DCI, KRA, EACC, and CRBs for those who pass interviews.

The deadline for applications is Monday, August 25, 2025, at midnight, after which no late submissions will be accepted.
