The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has established comprehensive guidelines for the authentication and verification of academic, professional, and related documents during teacher recruitment. Applicants must present both original and clear photocopies of essential documents to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.
Mandatory Documents for Submission
Applicants must provide the following documents:
โขA valid national identification card.
โขCertificate of Registration as a teacher.
โขDiploma or Degree certificate, along with official transcripts.
โขKenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate or its equivalent, including certificates for multiple attempts if applicable.
โขKenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) certificate or its equivalent, including certificates for multiple attempts if applicable.
โขCertification of results from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), if necessary.
โขPrimary and secondary school leaving certificates.
โขRelevant testimonials and documents, including a National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) card for individuals with disabilities.
โขA sworn affidavit to explain any inconsistencies in names under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15, Laws of Kenya.
Note: Provisional transcripts are not accepted.
Verification and Certification Process
The TSC Sub-County Director oversees the certification of photocopies, ensuring they are true copies of the originals. They also confirm the applicant meets the stipulated requirements. Sub-selection panels are mandated to:
- Verify the authenticity of all original academic and professional certificates, as well as official transcripts.
- Disqualify and/or deregister applicants presenting forged or fake documents.
The process includes a fair and transparent assessment, with TSC County Directors ensuring the selection panels are well-trained on recruitment guidelines. Only successful candidates listed on the Merit List are issued employment forms.
Post-Interview Procedures
The TSC Sub-County Directors are responsible for submitting recruitment documents to the TSC County Director for further verification. Once all requirements are met, the County Director issues Offer of Employment Letters to successful applicants. Recruitment documents are then submitted to TSC Headquarters within specified timelines.
The TSC recruitment process is designed to ensure a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection of teachers. Adhering to these guidelines safeguards the integrity of the exercise and ensures that only qualified applicants are employed to uphold the quality of education in Kenya.
