The following detailed information outlines the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) guidelines for the recruitment of teachers for post-primary institutions on permanent and pensionable terms for the 2024/2025 financial year.

1. General Information

Application Process:

Submit applications online via www.teachersonline.go.ke or www.tsc.go.ke for the specific institution, sub-county, or county with declared vacancies.

Applicants must be registered teachers per the TSC Act, 2012, and present an Affidavit for any discrepancies in document names.

Selection Panels:

Panels must ensure transparency and accountability.

Regional and County Directors will induct panel members on recruitment procedures.

Accessibility:

Ensure venues are accessible to persons with disabilities.

Documents Verification:

Applicants must present original and certified copies of required academic and professional documents during verification and interviews.

Communication:

Interview dates, venues, and times will be communicated via SMS at least seven days in advance.

2. Authentication of Documents

Present originals and certified photocopies of documents, including:

    • National ID
    • TSC registration certificate
    • Academic and professional certificates
    • KCSE and KCPE certificates (with all attempts included)
    • Disability cards, where applicable.
    • Forged documents will lead to disqualification and deregistration.

3. Selection Panels

For institutions with Boards of Management (BoMs):

●Includes Chairperson, Head of Institution, Subject Specialist, and representatives from the Parent Association and TSC.

For schools without BoMs:

●Chaired by the TSC Sub-County Director, with members including the institution head and PA representatives.

For junior secondary schools:

●Comprises the Sub-County Director, Human Resource Officer, and Curriculum Support Officer.

4. Selection Criteria

Applicants must meet the requirements specified in the TSC advertisement.

In cases of a tie, preference is given to:

●Length of time since graduation.

●Strength of academic and professional qualifications.

5. Qualifications

Graduate Teachers:

Minimum Requirements:

Mean grade of C+ at KCSE and C+ in teaching subjects.

Bachelor’s degree with two teaching subjects, or equivalent.

Diploma Teachers:

Minimum Requirements:

Mean grade of C+ at KCSE with C+ in teaching subjects.

Diploma in Education from a recognized institution.

Technical Teachers:

Minimum Requirements:

Mean grade of C+ at KCSE with C+ in technical subjects.

Relevant technical qualifications, including a diploma from KTTC or equivalent.

6. Special Considerations

Persons with Disabilities:

Must indicate the type and nature of their disability.

Previously Employed Teachers:

Preference for applicants not previously employed by TSC on permanent and pensionable terms.

Provisional Documents:

Provisional transcripts are not accepted.

7. Final Documentation

Selection panels must submit ranked merit lists and recruitment documents to TSC headquarters for verification and issuance of employment letters.
