TSC Announces 99 Chief Principal Vacancies in 2025/2026 Promotions

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened applications for 99 Chief Principal positions in secondary schools across Kenya as part of the 2025/2026 teacher promotions. This move is expected to strengthen school leadership and create growth opportunities for senior administrators.

To qualify, applicants must have served as Senior Principals (T-Scale 14) for at least three years. In addition, they must have obtained a satisfactory performance rating in both appraisal and performance contracting exercises. Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, and support other teachers is also mandatory.

TSC emphasizes that promotions will only go to teachers who show leadership capacity and professional integrity. Candidates will be expected to meet all requirements deemed necessary by the commission, including presenting valid Chapter Six compliance documents such as clearance from the EACC, KRA, DCI, HELB, and CRB.

Successful candidates will be posted to schools with existing vacancies, ensuring a fair distribution of leadership talent across the country. The commission has reiterated that applications must be submitted strictly through the TSC online portal (www.teachersonline.go.ke) by 25th August 2025 at midnight. Manual applications will not be considered.

This recruitment comes at a critical time when many schools face leadership gaps due to retirements and transfers. By filling these vacancies, TSC seeks to strengthen governance, improve school management, and enhance learner outcomes.

Importantly, the commission has stressed its commitment to equity and inclusivity by encouraging persons with disabilities to apply. Not more than two-thirds of promoted teachers will be of the same gender, ensuring gender balance in leadership positions.

With nearly 100 Chief Principal vacancies available, this advertisement presents a rare opportunity for experienced school heads to advance their careers while playing a crucial role in shaping the future of education in Kenya.
