TSC Issues Strong Warning Against Promotion Fraud

As teachers prepare for the 2025/2026 promotion cycle, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued a stern warning against fraudsters posing as middlemen promising guaranteed promotions in exchange for money. The commission has clarified that the entire promotion exercise is free of charge and any form of bribery or canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.

Over the years, cases of fraud have tainted teacher promotion exercises, with some individuals exploiting desperate applicants. To safeguard integrity, TSC has established clear reporting channels for suspected fraud. Teachers are urged to report any fraudulent activity to the nearest TSC office, or directly to the Director of Staffing and Deputy Director of Staffing through official hotlines and email addresses. Cases can also be reported to the nearest police station.

The commission has further reminded teachers that canvassing, whether through political leaders, administrators, or personal connections, will result in immediate disqualification. By doing so, TSC seeks to discourage corruption and favoritism while upholding professionalism in the teaching service.

To enhance accountability, all applications must be made strictly through the official TSC online portal. Manual submissions will not be accepted, eliminating loopholes often exploited by fraudsters. The use of a centralized, digital system also ensures transparency, as applicants can track their submissions and monitor updates through the official website.

These measures reflect TSC’s commitment to restoring confidence in teacher promotions. By eliminating corruption and ensuring merit-based advancement, the commission not only strengthens the credibility of the teaching service but also motivates teachers to work harder knowing their career growth is determined by performance, not bribery.

Teachers are therefore reminded to stay vigilant, avoid shortcuts, and rely solely on official communication from TSC. The fight against fraud is a collective responsibility, and protecting the integrity of promotions is key to building a trusted and professional teaching service in Kenya.
