TSC Introduces Detailed Scoring System For Internship Recruitment

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has introduced a detailed scoring system for the 2025/2026 internship recruitment that gives significant weight to age and years since graduation. According to the guidelines, teachers who graduated earlier will be given higher marks than recent graduates.

For instance, applicants who completed their training in 2016 or earlier will earn up to 20 points, while those who graduated in 2025 will get only 2 points. This system, TSC explains, is intended to reward long-serving unemployed graduates who have been seeking opportunities for years without success.

Age is also factored into the score guide, with teachers aged 50 and above scoring highest at 10 points, while those aged 39 and below earn 7 points. The move is seen as a way to support older teachers who may be disadvantaged in the job market.

Beyond age and graduation year, applicants’ academic qualifications will also influence their scores. First-class degree holders receive higher marks than those with second-class or pass degrees. Similarly, diploma holders are scored according to whether they graduated with distinction, credit, or pass.

This structured approach aims to eliminate bias during recruitment while ensuring that merit, fairness, and social justice guide the process.
