TSC Score Sheet For Recruitment of Teachers with Disabilities in Junior Secondary School on PnP Terms

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has developed a robust selection score guide aimed at ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the recruitment of teachers with disabilities for post-primary institutions. The guide evaluates applicants based on various criteria, including academic qualifications, professional experience, and internship status, allowing for an equitable process tailored to the specific needs of this group.

Academic and Professional Qualifications
Applicants are scored based on their highest academic qualifications. For Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degrees, a First-Class Honours degree earns a maximum score of 5, while a Second-Class Honours or Pass earns 3 and 2 points, respectively. Similarly, applicants with Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degrees coupled with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) are awarded points on the same scale.

Diploma holders are also scored, with distinctions receiving the highest points, followed by credits and passes. This ensures that applicants with diverse academic backgrounds are adequately assessed.

Age Factor
The scoring system acknowledges experience and maturity by awarding the highest score of 25 to applicants aged 50 and above. Younger candidates, aged 47-49, 44-46, and 43 or below, receive progressively lower scores of 20, 15, and 10 points. This approach values the contributions of older, more experienced teachers while accommodating younger candidates.

Length of Stay Since Qualification
A key component of the scoring is the length of time an applicant has been qualified as a teacher. Candidates who qualified in 2010 or earlier receive the maximum score of 20, while those who qualified more recently are awarded scores ranging from 19 to 6, depending on the year of qualification. This criterion prioritizes teachers who have been in the profession longer but have not secured permanent employment.

Internship Status
Applicants currently serving as interns with the TSC are awarded the highest score of 50 points. This category emphasizes the importance of ongoing practical teaching experience and aligns with TSC’s policy of encouraging teacher development through internships.
